About us
Our History
Keagan’s Cause was founded in December of 2017 by
Jami & Chad Cummings of Worthington, MN, who
have an 8-year-old non-verbal autistic son. Wanting to
raise awareness Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) the
Cummings family purchased blue light bulbs and gave
them away for the national “Light It Up Blue”
campaign, which is April 2nd of each year. They also
started publicly sharing personal stories of not only
the day to day struggles but also the triumphs of a
child with ASD. They were approached by a family
friend & musician Chris Hawkey to start up a nonprofit to raise funds for those living with ASD, and by doing
so he would volunteer his time and bring his band to play the first “Keagan’s Cause Concert” to help start the
fundraising. Although the Cummings named their new nonprofit after their son Keagan, the family will not
use any of the funds raised to benefit their son’s needs.
The legal filings were done under the guidance of Bill Wetering of Hedeen Hughes and Wetering Law Firm In
Worthington MN a true friend of Autism.
